A steady space outside home and school
Adolescence can be a difficult stage to read from the outside. Some teenagers look like they are coping while carrying a lot privately. Others show distress through anger, avoidance, withdrawal, risk-taking, school refusal, or conflict at home.
Lindsay works with young people in a way that is warm, direct, and respectful. The first task is building enough trust that therapy feels like somewhere the young person can actually speak, not another place where they are being assessed or told what to do.
Working with families
Teen therapy often includes some parent involvement, especially at the beginning. The balance depends on the young person's age, consent, safety, and the issues being worked on. Lindsay is thoughtful about confidentiality while also helping parents understand how best to support their teenager.
As a clinical psychologist and parent of teenagers, Lindsay understands the pressure this stage can place on the whole family system.
